Anita and Wolfram Gottschalk, the elderly Canadian couple that made headlines when they were forced to stay in separate nursing facilities, are finally back together after moving into the same residence.
The couple, however, had to be separated when they went to live in transitional facilities for people waiting to get into nursing homes in Surrey.
For the past eight months they have been living apart and a picture their granddaughter Ashley posted online of the couple crying during a reunion earlier this summer made international headlines.
The picture broke so many people’s hearts because the couple couldn’t be together.
The granddaughter posted on Facebook on Friday that her grandparents are now able to live in the same facility for the rest of their lives.
Wolfram and Anita were reunited on Friday. The two kissed, cried and hugged. Wolfram finally was moved to the same facility as Anita at the residence at Morgan Heights.
“They would like to thank Fraser Health for this reunion, and also the media for helping to get their story heard. They also wish to thank everyone around the world that liked, shared, or discussed their story,” Ashley Kaila B posted on Facebook.
