Police released surveillance footage of the alleged abduction of 22-year-old Carlesha Freeland-Gaither. The black and white video shows the attacker parking his car before approaching Freeland-Gaither at a street corner.
According to the (New York) Daily News, a nearby witness heard Freeland-Gaither screaming for help and she was able to kick out the rear driver’s and passenger side windows before the car sped off. Authorities believe the suspect was likely driving a dark gray Ford Taurus with Pennsylvania plates. The vehicle was missing inspection stickers and there was an unknown item on the bottom center of the front windshield.
Investigators also said the man was described as being about 5-foot-10 and between 25 and 30. He had a dark complexion and was wearing dark pants, a dark hoodie and a dark hat. Freeland-Gaither’s glasses and cellphone were found on the sidewalk after her abduction, and the young woman has not been heard from since.
Police said she has no connection to any type of criminal activity, and her kidnapping seems random at this point in time. Her father Carl Freeland has hung fliers in the neighborhood where his daughter was abducted and is pleading with the public to help in bringing her home.
Philadelphia is also offering a $10,000 reward for anyone with information leading to an arrest and conviction of the subject who remains at large.
