Nissan is using the first day of April in 2016 to show the world what its NV3500 cargo van can really do.
The short film, which includes a terrible April Fool’s joke at the beginning, is worth watching because it shows Formula Drift ace, Chris Forsberg, sliding the huge van surprisingly gracefully around a Ken Block Gymkhana-esque circuit.
For the stunt the NV was prepared by engineers who welded the rear differential together and added a hydraulic handbrake.
Under the bonnet, it’s thought the already muscular 230kW/522Nm 5.6-litre V8 was left alone.
For those not familiar with the NV Cargo van, it’s built on the firm’s Alpha platform that also underpins the huge Titan pick-up truck.
Currently not sold outside of North America because of lack of right-hand drive, the V8 versions are so powerful Nissan USA limited the big van to 161km/h for fear of a public outcry.
