Conan O’Brien has congratulated Stephen Colbert on his new appointment as host of The Late Show.
Current host David Letterman announced last week that he’ll be retiring from CBS in 2015.
There were reports of several television personalities being in the running to host The Late Show, including Neil Patrick Harris and Tina Fey.
In the video, Conan stated, “I wasn’t up for it. I’m very happy where I am. But I love Stephen. Stephen is great. I’m a huge fan of his as a comic and a human being. I think it’s fantastic and I’m really glad he got the job, and I look forward to seeing his show. It’s going to be fantastic.”
Conan then went on to talk about his upcoming gig hosting the MTV Movie Awards. He hasn’t revealed too much, but he has hinted at some of his plans. He said, “I’m going to try to set a record at the very top of the show that has never been set before.”
