He went to the Ridgeland Police Department Thursday afternoon to answer to a contempt of court charge for more than $1,600 worth of fines.
He was then picked up by Jackson Police for two outstanding misdemeanor theft warrants. He’s accused of stealing merchandise from Swell-O-Phonic in Fondren and Walmart.
We spoke with a manager at Swell-O-Phonic who says that Barnes stole a Van’s bucket hat just over a month ago. She also says he has been known for shoplifting in the area.
On Monday, Courtney Barnes was on his way to get “a piece of… um, burger from Burger King” when he claims to have witnessed a crash involving a police officer.
His excited account of the accident went viral Wednesday almost as soon as it was published to our Facebook page.
Courtney Barnes will return to Ridgeland in two weeks for a court appearance.
