Six years after her second-place finish on American Idol. Crystal Bowersox is lending her choice to advocate for kids with diabetes.
“You have to think about it every second of every day–you don’t get a vacation from it” Bowersox told KTSA News, she herself diagnosed with diabetes at the age of six.
“I remember the first glucose meter that I used. We called it a brick–because it was as big as a brick” Bowersox said.
She’s working with Eli Lilly to encourage kids to think about spending some time this summer at specialized camps for kids with diabetes. She said it can make a world of difference in their young lives.
“The children that attend these camps will have experiences they can take with them for the rest of their lives” Bowersox said.
