A cucumber recall in Canada triggered by a suspected salmonella outbreak in the United States is being expanded.
The recall affects unwrapped field cucumbers and in-store made products that contain them which were sold on or before September 6th. Products may include Greek salads, sushi, vegetable trays, and sandwiches.
Salmonella poisoning can be seriously hazardous to the health of the very young and the elderly, and persons who have these products in their homes should throw them out or return them to the stores where they were purchased.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is investigating the cause of the potential contamination and further recalls may be issued. So far no illnesses have been reported in connection with the consumption of these products.
