Daniel Ellis: “Richmond Officer” shot while investigating robbery has died

Richmond Police Officer Daniel Ellis has died.

Dozens of officer Daniel Ellis’ comrades are escorting his body to Frankfort on Nov.6 where an autopsy is scheduled.

Officer Ellis was shot while investigating a robbery in Richmond on Wednesday.

Ellis was a 7 year veteran of the Richmond Police Department. He leaves behind his wife Katie who is the assistant principal at Madison Central High School in Richmond, Together the couple has a 3-year-old son.

Three suspects are charged with this crime. Accused gunman Raleigh Sizemore has been charged with attempted murder of a police officer, but it’s safe to assume that charge will be upgraded.

An expense fund has been set up at Edward Jones Bank in Richmond. Checks can be made payable to “Officer Ellis Family.” The mailing address is 100 Keystone Dr. Suit B. Richmond, KY 40475.
