Dave Benton, WCIA TV anchorman in Champaign, says he has months to live (Video)

Dave Benton, news anchor for WCIA in Champaign, Illinois, went on the air this week with a sobering announcement for his loyal viewers.

Benton had previously battled brain cancer, and found that not only that had it returned, but that it was inoperable. He said that doctors had informed him that he only had four-to-six months to live.

Saying his cancer is too big for surgery and radiation, Dave Benton told viewers he would try an antibody treatment to slow the cancer’s growth.

“The goal here is to have a few more days and to make them the best that they can be in the life that I have,” Benton said. “I believe that I’m in God’s hands, I’m at peace and I know he will take care of the days ahead.”

Benton said he was “dedicated to continue good work” while fighting his diagnosis.

Benton has worked at the station since 2005. He has a wife and two grown children.
