Dead woman and two capuchin monkeys found in Florida hotel room.
A woman was found dead Friday inside the same motel room where a man and two monkeys were also found. Now, police are questioning the man but no arrests have been made.
The victim, identified as 59-year-old Linda Marie Smith, of Arcadia, was found in a room at the Budget Inn in North Port. Police are treating her death as suspicious.
Two capuchin monkeys were found inside shut cages in the room and have been taken into care by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission.
A man was also found in the room in an “incoherent” state, according to police. He has received medical attention and was undergoing questioning.
North Port Police Department said in a statement: “There were no obvious signs of trauma to Smith’s body.
“The cause of death is undetermined at this point. The medical examiner will soon conduct an autopsy.”
Police revealed that a note was also found during a search of the motel room on Friday, but its contents have not been revealed.
