On her first official night out on her New Zealand Tour, the Duchess of Cambridge wore a dress by her favourite British designer Jenny Packham.
Kate was attending an art unveiling at a reception thrown by Governor General Sir Jerry Mateparae, the Queen’s representative in New Zealand, at his official residence, Government House.
According to Clarence House, the Duchess followed The Queen’s tradition of incorporating a national emblem or colour of a host country into a gown.
Two symbols of New Zealand – the colour black and the silver fern – were the key elements of Kate’s dress.
The low hemline black dress by Jenny Packham, one of Kate’s favourite designers, featured boat neckline and hand-embroidered silver fern on left shoulder.
The bejewelled embellishment matched with Kate’s sapphire earrings and diamond bracelet. The Duchess completed her ensemble with a matching black clutch and pump heels.
After sporting a looped ponytail during the day’s engagement at town of Blenheim, Kate Middleton opted for her trademark blow-dried hairdo with loose tresses and soft curls to embrace the royal reception.
