A 104-year-old woman says she does not need the advice of real doctors, she’s partial to Dr. Pepper.
Elizabeth Sullivan of Fort Worth just celebrated her 104th birthday! She says she has been drinking the soda since she was 60, and it keeps her going.
“I started drinking them about 40 years ago; three a day; and every doctor that sees me says it’ll kill you, but they die and I don’t, so they must be a mistake someway,” said Sullivan.
Friends and family surprised Sullivan with a cake shaped like the Dr. Pepper can. And for her special day, the company’s CEO sent her several cases of soda and a gift basket.
“When you live to be 104 and still can talk to nice people, you deserve some Dr. Pepper,” said Sullivan.
Sullivan is well known in her community. She taught high school math for 15 years and tutored football players for free.

I don’t drink soda at all now but I loved Dr. Pepper as a kid. I loved the taste of it a lot better than Coke and a lot, lot better than Pepsi. I don’t get the “medicine” bit at all….
