Ellie Goulding has four songs on the soundtrack for ‘Divergent’ starring Shailene Woodley and Theo James. Three songs are also featured on her sophomore album Halcyon Days, while ‘Beating Heart’ is a brand new song.
“Beating Heart,” which was recorded especially for the soundtrack, feels like it was made for all the swoony scenes between Tris and Four (of which there are many). Clips from the movie are juxtaposed with Ellie dancing around some post-apocalyptic woods, decked out in a little black dress and tattoos—very Dauntless of her—and chased by a Theo James lookalike, though he’s noticeably less jacked (apparently, unlike Four, he does not train faction initiates).
