A well-known Gainesville accountant is sitting in jail on human trafficking charges after Alachua County Sheriff’s deputies said he held several women hostage in his home as sex slaves for months.
The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office got involved months ago when a woman complained that Timothy Deegan raped her while she slept. He was arrested for sexual battery in December.
“He has been having females live in his residence. He has been providing them drugs in exchange for sex. He has also been providing transportation, hotel rooms, in order for them to participate in the prostitution activity,” said Sgt. Becky Butscher. “He has also recorded the sex acts, and he has controlled the females by providing drugs to them, by creating traps inside the residence.”
Deputies said Deegan would follow the women using surveillance video and track them using the GPS on their cellphones.
Deegan is currently held in the Alachua County Jail on a $300,000 bond for three counts of human trafficking.
Deputies said Deegan could face additional charges for drugs and video recordings of the alleged sexual activity.
