An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.4 struck the Inland Empire early Wednesday, Jan. 15, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
The quake was centered about 3 miles north of Fontana, the USGS website said. It happened about 1:35 a.m.
Southern California residents in San Bernardino, Riverside, Orange and Los Angeles counties said they felt the quake, according to the website.
The Fontana Police Department and San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department both say there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
Most residents posting to the USGS community Internet intensity map reported the quake felt light to weak. Some residents of Fontana and San Bernardino reported the shaking as moderate.
