Rob Ford will likely know by next week whether he can undergo cancer surgery.
The last time we’d heard an update the cancerous tumour in his abdomen was 7cms and it needed to be 3cms to get the green light for surgery.
Ford says if he’s given the green light, doctors could start the proceedure as early as May 7th.
He says the process has been tough on him and his family.
When it comes to what happens if he doesn’t get the surgery, Ford says ‘they can’t do anything more for me.’
Medical Expert, Dr. Mitch Shulman says the medical team would have wanted to shrink the tumour to make it easier to get to in the event they can operate.
Dr Mitch says it all depends on what the tumour is near, or what it’s wrapped around.
And he says if they can’t operate, there aren’t many other options.
“There’s only so much radiation a body can take and there’s only so much chemotherapy a body can take.”
