Officials at a Colorado elementary school are investigating after a fourth-grader is accused of selling marijuana to classmates.
Greeley School Safety Director John Gates says the boy sold pot to three other fourth graders on the playground.
The following day, one of those students gave the initial pot dealing boy a marijuana edible. One of the school moms, who did not want to show her face in an interview, has a daughter at Montfort who knows the kids involved.
She was shocked when she learned about the incident through a note from the school. “I didn’t think I would have to have a drug conversation with my six year old who is barely out of Barney,” the mother said. Another student at Montfort turned the four kids in. Two were suspended – all are being punished.
According to school officials in both instances the students took the marijuana from their grandparents, not with consent. At the request of the district, Greeley police will not file charges against the grandparents – instead, they’re hoping this serves as a lesson.
