France orders plain cigarette packs, Report

France announced on Thursday that it would introduce plain cigarette packaging and ban electronic cigarettes in certain public places, in a bid to reduce high smoking rates among the under-16s.

“A positive social message is being delivered. It involves the “denormalisation” of a molecule that has such a profound impact on public health and an impact on cancer. Its image will be a little less attractive so I believe it to be a positive measure,” explained professor of oncology, Henri Joyeux,

The French Health Minister Marisol Touraine has announced that smoking would be banned in playgrounds and in cars with passengers under the age of 12.

France has one of the highest rates of under-16s smoking in Europe.

EU laws already force tobacco companies to cover 65 percent of packaging with health warnings.

E-cigarettes are also set to be banned in schools, on public transport and in enclosed workplaces.

Advertising electronic cigarettes is initially to be restricted and then completely banned as of 2016 except at their point of sale and in trade publications.

Over 70,000 people die every year in France as a result of smoking related illnesses.

    1. I vape, I do not smoke. I make my own flavored ejuice, and there is no nicotine in it at all. I know every chemical in my ejuice and how it is made. Therefore, it is with complete certainty I can say it is harmless. The FDA approved Propolyn Glycol, used in many fog machines at parties, and the FDA approved Vegetable Glycerin, which is mainly used as a food sweetener, and other things, are the only two major components in my ejuice. 3% is my FDA approved flavoring. I am not the only one without nicotine in my ejuice. Regardless, I am seriously offended by the ignorance of politicians on this subject. My ecig doesn’t make me a cigarette smoker! Just because it has nicotine doesn’t make it a cigarette, just because they call it an ecig doesn’t make it a cigarette either. It is a vaporizer, period. So is this a war on Nicotine? if so, then what? Are we going to ban tomatoes, tea, potatoes, or any other food that has nicotine? Think of the children!
