Manfred Fritz Bajorat, Mummified Body Of Explorer Found Sitting At Desk On Drifting Yacht.

Manfred Fritz Bajorat, 59, was slumped beside the ship’s radio telephone, long dead and apparently mummified by the ocean’s hot temperatures and salty, dry winds, the Mirror reports.

The timing and cause of the man’s death are not yet known.

The yacht was drifting some 40 miles off the Philippine coast. Local police spokesperson Goldie Lou Siega said: “We have no evidence of a second person aboard and no weapon was found on the yacht.”

Dr Mark Benecke, a forensic criminologist from Cologne, told German publication Bild: “The way he is sitting seems to indicate that death was unexpected, perhaps from a heart attack.”

Authorities are now attempting to contact Bajorat’s friends and family, in order to obtain further clues about his travels and last contact with the outside world.
