Anwan Glover, an actor who starred in US television show The Wire, is recovering from being stabbed in a Washington nightclub.
The incident was one of three reports of violence in local clubs within about an hour and a half, two at Café Asia and one at the Red Lounge, both in Northwest D.C.
Metropolitan police say there is no reason at this time to believe the attacks were related.
Glover told investigators he was at Café Asia early Sunday when an unknown person punched him and another person hit him on the head. Glover told police he was then kicked repeatedly and felt sharp pain in his side.
Authorities say Glover was treated for a laceration to the torso at George Washington University Hospital. His condition wasn’t immediately known.
The 41-year-old actor lives in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, and most recently appeared in the Oscar-winning movie “12 Years a Slave.”
Glover also had a role in the first season of the HBO series “Treme”.
He is also known as Big G, leader of the Backyard Band, a go-go band.
