GMC is introducing the 2016 Yukon SLT Premium Edition, a special version that offers Yukon and Yukon XL customers a more personalized appearance with plenty of chrome inserts.
The Premium Edition trim doesn’t quite deliver the gravitas (or the power) of the Denali, but it does bring with it special 22-inch alloy wheels and a chrome grille unique to the model. Additional goodies include chrome moldings along the Yukon’s body and a polished exhaust tip.
Buyers can select the Premium Edition package on any Yukon or Yukon SLT with either two- or four-wheel drive. All Premium Editions will utilize the Yukon’s familiar 5.3-liter V-8 engine.
The package otherwise builds directly on the Yukon and Yukon XL SLT trim levels. With the Premium Edition, GMC is looking to channel some of the Denali’s style and success in a more affordable package.
While the automaker hasn’t released a price for the Premium Edition trim level yet, it is safe to say that a Yukon SLT with the package will sticker for well under the $66,520 a base Yukon Denali commands. GMC says that Yukon sales are up about 11 percent so far this year, thanks in part to relatively low fuel prices, and this new package should help further boost sales.
