Go Pink Day – Breast Cancer Awareness Month kicked off Wednesday and Panera Bread is baking some special bagels.
All seven Mahoning Valley Panera cafes will host Go Pink Day. The proceeds from Pink Ribbon bagels sold Wednesday will go to the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center.
Throughout the rest of October, Panera Bread locations will continue to donate 10 percent of the proceeds from each Pink Ribbon Bagel sold to the JACBCC in support of Joanie’s Promise Fund, which helps keep the life-saving services of the JACBCC accessible to all regardless of their ability to pay.
Last year, the Go Pink event resulted in a one-day total of more than 16,000 bagels sold. This year, the amount raised through the Pink Ribbon Bagel sales will be matched by YSU’s Zeta Tau Alpha sorority (ZTA).
The funds from both the Pink Ribbon Bagel sales and the ZTA match will be presented at the annual Pink Ribbon Cheer Classic at YSU on October 26th.
