Officials say a woman was stopped at an airport security checkpoint with a pair of gun-shaped stiletto heels.

The shoes, which had stiletto heels in the shape of handgun barrels and also featured what looked like bullets, were in the woman’s carry-on luggage, TSA spokeswoman Lisa Farbstein said.

She was told that she could put the items in her checked luggage, but the agency prohibits “replica guns or ammunition” from being carried through airport security checkpoints, Farbstein said.

After returning to her airline’s ticket counter to try to check the items, the woman eventually left them with the TSA in order to catch her flight.

“We want to remind travelers that they should not bring replica guns or ammunition to checkpoints,” Farbstein said in an email. “It will definitely slow them down, slow down their traveling companions who are waiting for them, and it will slow down the checkpoint lines for other travelers.”

The shoes, dubbed the Bondgirl-701-3 Gun Heel Platform Sandals, are one of exotic footwear manufacturer Pleaser USA’s most popular items.

The 7.5-inch gun-barrel heels on the confiscated kicks are actually plastic, but they’re finished with a chrome coating to make them look realistic, Pleaser USA spokeswoman Elody Romero said. They’re one of about 10 or 12 different versions of the 3.5-inch platform shoes, she said.

Romero said in her nine years at the company, she’d never heard of the heels holding up the security line at an airport.

“She brought them in her carry-on luggage,” Romero said. “That probably wasn’t the smartest decision.”
