Homemade Valentine’s Day gifts

Valentine’s Day is a great time to show your loved one how you feel, but what do you do if you’re broke? Don’t worry, Kidzworld’s got you covered with the Top 10 Homemade Valentine’s Day Gifts!

10. Mix CD

Gather all your favorite love songs together on one mix and show your loved one how much you care by making a special case to hold the CD. Cut a rectangular strip of paper twice as long as the CD, put the CD in the middle of the strip and fold up to create your pocket case. Decorate the case with photos or try gluing together pics from old magazines.

9. Decorated Candy Jar

Whether your loved one likes sweet tarts or cinnamon hearts, a decorated jar filled with their favorite treats is a thoughtful and simple gift for Valentine’s Day. You can glue transparent tissue paper to the outside or leave the glass exposed so you can see the candy inside. Finish it off by tying brightly-colored ribbons around the lid.

8. Conversation Heart Brownies

Baking is always an easy, inexpensive way to show someone you care. Get an adult to help you mix together a simple brownie recipe, then top the baked brownies with icing and conversation hearts—your bf/gf will be speechless!

7. Photo Scrapbook

Even if you can’t afford fancy scrapbooking supplies, you can still make a great photo album with just a few photos, some construction paper and glue. Choose 5-10 pieces of construction paper to make your album then staple them together into a booklet. Cut out heart shapes from red, pink and white paper to line the photos like a frame, then paste the framed photos into your book.

6. Draw Their Portrait

If you’re lucky enough to be artistically-inclined, why not draw a portrait of your loved one? You can use photos as a guide, or just go by memory.

5. Make An Origami Heart

Start with a 6” x 6” piece of paper. Fold it in half then open it back up. Fold the other side in half and open it back up so you have 2 creases on the paper. Fold the top point of the paper to meet the center crease then fold the bottom point to meet the top. Now fold the right side to meet the center crease. Then fold the left side to meet the center crease. Now just fold down the pointy ends of the heart and you’re done!

4. Write A Poem

Capture your feelings for your loved one in a heartfelt poem. If you’re not a fan of sentimental gifts, try writing a goofy poem instead—your bf/gf will appreciate your wacky sense of humor.

3. Sidewalk Art

Get some sidewalk chalk and draw different-colored hearts on each block of the sidewalk on the route your bf/gf walks home. Better yet, draw a mural on the sidewalk outside their house.

2. Shoebox Of Memories

Decorate an old shoebox with bows, glitter and hearts then fill it with keepsakes from your relationship. Don’t forget to include ticket stubs, silly photos and sweet love notes.

1. Thank-You Jar

Write thank you notes for your bf/gf on notes and tie them to chocolate kisses. Put them in a jar and have your loved one open the jar every day until the notes run out.
