Hugh Jackman: X-Men star has another skin cancer growth removed

X-Men star Hugh Jackman has urged people to wear sunscreen and get regular check-ups after going public with having a fifth skin cancer growth removed.

The 47-year-old actor posted on Instagram a post-op pictures along with a message for fans to raise awareness about the terrifying disease.

In the close-up photo, “The Wolverine” actor wore a large bandage on his nose. Through the caption of the photo, the Australian actor reminded people to use sunscreen to protect themselves from cancer.

“An example of what happens when you don’t wear sunscreen. Basal Cell. The mildest form of cancer but serious, nonetheless,” he captioned the photo. “PLEASE USE SUNSCREEN and get regular check-ups.”

Hugh Jackman was diagnosed with Basal Cell Carcinoma, the skin cancer which usually presents itself as a small pearly bump that looks like a pimple. The actor was first treated for the same disease back in November 2013. In 2014 when he had another Basal Cell, he told PEOPLE that he was surprised after knowing the truth.

“It’s always a bit of a shock just hearing the word ‘cancer,’ ” he said. “Being an Australian it’s a very common thing. I never wore sunscreen growing up so I was a prime candidate for it.”
