Ivana Trump might have spent fourteen years married to Donald Trump and borne three of his children but she cannot decide whether or not he is feminist.
Speaking forthrightly about the Republican presidential frontrunner and billionaire tycoon, the Czech-American model initially said she didn’t think her former husband was a feminist.
“I don’t think he’s feminist. He loves women. But not a feminist,” she said in an interview with The New York Post.
After Trump’s cheating ended the marriage, she says, that put the kibosh on his political ambitions. “So there was no way that he would go into [politics] at that point,” she says. “But he was always tooling around with the idea.”
Despite being divorced for nearly 30 years, Ivana reveals that they remain on good terms.
“Donald took the divorce as a businessman. And he had to negotiate and he had to win,” says Ivana. “Once the financial part was settled, we’re friendly.”
In fact, Ivana even gives her ex advice on his campaign. “I suggest a few things. We speak before and after the appearances and he asks me what I thought,” she says, adding that she keeps urging him to “be more calm.”
However, she adds: “Donald cannot be calm. He’s very outspoken. He just says it as it is … He’s no politician. He’s a businessman. He knows how to talk. He can give an hour speech without notes.”
As for The Donald’s current spouse, Ivana thinks Melania Trump would make a great First Lady. “She’s going to adapt just fine,” she tells the Post. “She never did anything wrong to me. I wish them all the best.”
That generosity, however, does not extend to Marla Maples.
“She asked to apologize to me in the Daily Mail in London,” says Ivana. “They asked if I accepted the apology and I said no. Why should I? She broke my marriage!”
