Joey Martin Feek of country duo Joey and Rory is stopping cancer treatment.
Joey+Rory’s Rory Feek shared a post on his “This Life I Live” blog, breaking the sad news that his beautiful wife Joey’s tumors have returned and more smaller ones are aggressively spreading.
After being diagnosed with cervical cancer, Joey underwent a radical hysterectomy in 2014 and has been undergoing additional medical treatment this year.
In a heartbreaking entry on his blog, Rory said the two have returned home after new scans show previous chemotherapy and radiation have failed to prevent her cancer from growing.
“To say my wife is brokenhearted is an understatement,” he wrote. “And to tell you that we’re not scared would be a lie. This is the kind of thing that happens to somebody else, not us. But then I have to remember … we are somebody else to somebody else.”
After returning hom, the couple took their calendar off the wall and threw it away.
“So we don’t have forever,” Rory wrote. “We’ve got right now … and that’s enough.”
As they both continue to process the devastating news, they plan to spend time on the back porch of their farm with their beautiful daughter Indiana, watching the sunsets, according to the blog post.
They also continue to have tremendous faith in spite of their current circumstances.
“We ask for your prayers, too,” he wrote. “For a miracle. And even more so, for peace with His decision. That is enough.”
