John Stamos is opening up about what led him to the dark path he was on, which culminated in getting a DUI earlier this year. He’s completed a stint in rehab and says he feels better than ever.
“I’ve had a rough year with my mom dying, so it all came to a head, and it was a turning point. You either continue on that path — and some of it’s fun, but a lot of it’s not — or there’s this other thing, this golden opportunity sitting there with all this work and all this goodwill that you have going for you. That’s the key,” the 52-year-old actor said in a new interview with Details.
Following his mother’s passing last September, John was arrested for driving under the influence in June and taken to a hospital to be treated for an unknown medical condition. He entered a rehab facility in July and checked out after a one-month stint.
The star is now gearing up to appear on two new shows — a FOX sitcom, Grandfathered (set to premiere on Sept. 29) and the upcoming Netflix series, Fuller House, which is a reboot of his hit 1990s show, Full House.
“I can’t wait to get to work in the morning,” John recently told Entertainment Weekly of his new projects. “I haven’t felt this in a long time. I feel better than I’ve felt in a decade. And I hope people see that. That’s what I want them to see.”
