Johnny depp : pirates of the caribbean 5 Delayed, Reports

Officially, and this is from Jerry Bruckheimer’s mouth: Pirates of the Caribbean 5 has been delayed to 2016 because of a scripting issue. He and everyone involved want to get it right. Sounds plausible enough. But given the problems Disney had with a big-money Johnny Depp, Bruckheimer-produced blockbuster last time out, suggestions are that the giants are mulling things over.

Shooting is still scheduled to begin in fall 2014 with Johnny Depp continuing his role as Captain Jack Sparrow.

Norwegian filmmakers Joachim Roenning and Espen Sandberg will helm the project. The duo’s most recent film, “Kon-Tiki,” received a best foreign language nomination at the 2013 Academy Awards.

The previous four “Pirates of the Caribbean” films have taken in a collective $3.73 billion in global ticket sales, while 2006’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” became the first Disney film ever to cross the $1 billion mark at the box office.

But there has been speculation that Disney is now reluctant to produce “Dead Men Tell No Tales” after the most recent release from Bruckheimer and Depp, “The Lone Ranger,” turned into a box office fiasco. With a production budget of at least $215 million, “The Lone Ranger” took in just $243 million globally. Critics weren’t impressed either. The film is considered one of the biggest flops of 2013.
