Julia Louis-Dreyfus took home the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her lead role in HBO’s “Veep” Sunday night. This is the sixth primetime Emmy award Louis-Dreyfus has earned for her contributions to the television arts.
“I think it would be appropriate at this moment to quote our political satire ‘Veep,’” Louis-Dreyfus, who plays politician Selina Meyer on the HBO series, said. “What a great honor it must be for you to honor me tonight.’”
And then the zinger at The Donald.
“Oh no, I’m so sorry, Donald Trump said that. It’s getting trickier and trickier to satirize this stuff.”
Louis-Dreyfus went on to offer the expected thanks to the show’s cast and crew, along with the other usual suspects. She also expressed her love for “powerful funny women,” before ribbing powerful funny woman Amy Poehler.
