US Weekly reports that Katy Perry and John Mayer have decided to stop being a couple, although they will remain friends. The split was “mutual” and “extremely amicable,” as the two are still close, even though other sources claim they were “fighting” a lot before they ended things.
We have yet to receive word as to why they have called it quits and neither of the singers have offered up a comment as to why they have split up. Previously, Katy has had nothing but good words for her singer fiancee. She said previously, “I’ve been a fan of John’s for years before I got to actually kiss him. I’ve been such a fan, I think he’s so incredibly talented and gifted and a genius songwriter. So to be a part of anything he was doing was just natural.”
Sources have said that John referred to Katy as his “wife” during a previous interview and that they were looking forward to a June 2014 wedding. A source close to the situation said, “They’d love a June wedding. They want to get married at the San Ysidro Ranch in Katy’s home town of Santa Barbara.”
Rumor has it that he proposed to her on Valentine’s Day and that he asked her father’s permission prior to asking her to marry him. What do you think of their split? Why do you think they’ve called it quits if they were really going to walk down the aisle with each other in June? Have your say in the comments section below.
