Katy Perry takes the stage with the legendary Dolly Parton to sing a duet of her hits at the 2016 Academy of Country Music Awards held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Sunday (April 3) in Las Vegas.
With Dolly & Katy written in lights behind them, the pair were styled in a colorful ensemble—Dolly looked like a glittery circus ring master and Katy channeled Cowboy Barbie. Perfect!
They belted out a medley of three of Dolly’s hits; Coat of Many Colors, Jolene and 9-5 that had the audience bopping in the aisles and bathed in the feel good vibes that Dolly exudes.
Held in Las Vegas, it was the 51st ACM Awards and the big winner of the night was Chris Stapleton who collected four awards. The love fest between people’s favorite Parton and pop princess Perry continued when the latter presented the Tex Ritter Award to the country legend for her work on the NBC television movie Coat of Many Colors, which was based on her songs and childhood growing up in East Tennessee.
The duet was only announced two weeks ago and was the centerpiece of the night. It was energetic and fun and exactly the crowd pleaser that the organizers billed—we can only hope that further collaboration is forthcoming.
Watch and enjoy!
