Khloe Kardashian has said the family still call Caitlyn Jenner by the name Bruce at times and that Caitlyn is perfectly okay with that.
In a new interview with Australia’s The Project, however, Khloe Kardashian admitted that it’s been a tough adjustment. “We don’t like to say that Bruce is gone per se,” she said. “We, my sisters and I, we will call Caitlyn ‘Bruce’ and we’ve been told that’s completely fine.”
“And she has told us, we are allowed to call her any name we want to. Because on the phone, when she calls me, it’s the same voice as Bruce,” she continued. “And if I’m not physically with her, it’s hard to remember in the moment that I’m talking to Caitlyn, if that makes sense.”
Caitlyn herself admitted that having a masculine voice has been a struggle for her because she doesn’t feel like her voice matches who she is. After the ESPY Awards, where she received the Arthur Ashe Courage Award, Cait wrote in a WhoSay blog post that it was a little difficult to watch herself, saying, “While I felt like I looked great and that the gown looked fabulous, I still have a voice issue. It’s not quite right compared to my feminine appearance.”
While Khloe admits that she’s called Caitlyn by her former name, she is still super supportive of her transition and calls it a “beautiful thing,” saying, “we are just happy for her…We just want her to be happy.” And it looks like she finally is.
