Kimberly A. Jacobs was charged with attempted first-degree murder for attacking her elderly mother with a frying pan and then a 4-pound hammer. She pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and reckless endangerment Thursday.
Jacobs, 47, told Northern York County Regional Police at the time of her arrest that she planned on killing her parents and then herself, police said. They heard her say, “I just wanted peace and quiet for once.”
Jacobs went after her mother first, according to court documents, hitting her in the head with a frying pan. When that failed to kill the woman, Jacobs retrieved a hammer and struck her mother repeatedly. She told police that she hit her mother as many as 20 times with the makeshift weapons.
After failing to kill her mother, Jacobs called 911 and told the dispatcher what she had done.
Initially charged with attempted murder and held on $1 million bail, Jacobs pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and reckless endangerment on Thursday in York County court, The York Daily Record reported.
She was sentenced to up to two years in prison, two years probation and must undergo a mental health evaluation.
