A central Indiana woman who promised to donate one of her kidneys to a man she barely knew has married him three years after his successful transplant surgery.
Chelsea Clair and Kyle Froelich met at a 2009 car show when he was 19 and she was 22. Clair learned that day that Froelich had a serious kidney disease — and she told him then and there she would give him one of hers.
After many offers from friends for their kidneys, and no successful matches, Froelich was beginning to lose hope. But then he met Chelsea Clair, a friend of a friend. The day they met, Clair offered Froelich her kidney. Even though he was basically a stranger, she didn’t want to see him go through what her father had to when he couldn’t find a bone marrow transplant and later passed away.
It wasn’t until after the successful operation that the two began dating. Just a month over four years after they met, the couple exchanged vows in Indiana. Now, if that doesn’t warm your heart, we don’t know what will! Congratulations to the happy newlyweds!
