Lady GaGa is picked as the recipient for Woman of the Year title by Billboard this year. The Mother Monster is scheduled to be feted in a ceremony which will take place on December 11 at Cipriani Midtown in New York and air December 18 on Lifetime.
Billboard will present her with the title at this year’s Women in Music awards, which named Taylor Swift queen in 2014 and also honored Aretha Franklin, Ariana Grande, Iggy Azalea, Jessie J, Charli XCX and Idina Menzel.
“I can’t believe @billboard named me Woman of the year thank you so much,” Gaga gushed on Twitter after the announcement. “I am so so so so grateful. My gosh good morning!”
Lifetime will air the Women in Music event for the first time in its 10-year run, and network Executive Vice President Liz Gateley is happy to play host.
“Lady Gaga is an extraordinary artist, emblematic of the strength, courage and fortitude that Lifetime celebrates, and we are thrilled to offer our platform to recognize her in every way she deserves,” Gateley said in a statement, according to the site.
Lifetime’s deal will extend for a total of three years, during which two additional Billboard queens will be crowned. Billboard will announce additional 2015 honorees in the coming weeks.
