A Chesaning man accused of abducting a woman he met on Craigslist has been arraigned.
Daniel Symons was arraigned in Shiawassee County court this afternoon, slapped with charges of kidnapping and assault by strangulation.
An Okemos woman was assaulted Wednesday, May 13, after a phony craigslist ad lured her for a date with a man she met online.
Lt. David Kaiser with Michigan State Police said state troopers pulled the suspicious car over after they noticed the vehicle swerving.
“They actually stopped the vehicle, the lady in the back seat was kicking the window, kicking the driver, doing what she could to get out of the vehicle to get attention,” said Kaiser.
When police pulled the car over they discovered the 22-year old woman. “We found her hands had been zip tied behind her back she had duct tape over her mouth and a bag over her head,” he said.
Symons remains in jail on $500,000 cash bond.
