Footage shows the wheelchair falling off the platform and on the tracks, with two people jumping down to lift the man and the wheelchair back on to the platform.

Metro spokesman Dan Stessel said the man who fell, “was not in imminent danger of being struck by a train” as the nearest train was three stops away.

The man was taken to hospital, but is not believed to have suffered serious injury.

None of the individuals involved have been identified.
