Oklahoma Labor Commissioner Mark Costello died Sunday night after being stabbed at a fast-food restaurant in northwest Oklahoma City.
Costello was at a Braum’s restaurant when his son stabbed him in the head and neck, police told CNN. Costello died later at a local hospital. His 26-year-old son, Christian Costello, was arrested in the parking lot.
The attack started in the restaurant and then continued outside, police said.
“We got a closer look and there was a guy chasing him with a knife,” witness Patrick Spencer told CNN local affiliate KFOR. “It was shocking and dramatic.” Spencer said the son and father circled the building several times before the attacker stabbed Costello in the head.
Mark Costello become the state’s labor commissioner in 2010 after founding the telephone software company AMCAT.
