The remains of Teneriffe murder victim Mayang Prasetyo will be repatriated to her family home in southern Sumatra for burial, an Indonesian foreign affairs official confirmed on Tuesday.
Marcus Volke, 28, was caught boiling severed parts of Mayang Prasetyo’s body on his stove in his Brisbane apartment when police responded to requests for a welfare check Saturday night.
Other parts of the woman’s body were believed to have been found in garbage bags in the apartment.
When police arrived, Volke reportedly fled the scene and used a knife to kill himself.
Residents of the apartment complex said Sunday that a smell of “rotting meat” had been in the building in recent days.
Detective Senior Sergeant Tom Armitt told the media on Sunday he could not say how long Prasetyo had been dead.
