Social media posts flooded various platforms shortly before 10 p.m. Thursday night as posters reported seeing the rock legend Meat Loaf collapse on stage in Edmonton.
The 68-year-old dropped his microphone and fell to the floor in the middle of his 1993 hit “I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That).” Stage hands and band members rushed to his aid as he lay on the stage.
His agent, music manager and Alberta Health Services have refused comment.
This is not the first time the burly singer, who first gained fame in 1977 with the smash album “Bat out of Hell” has collapsed on stage.
It happened in December 2003 in England and eight years later in Pittsburgh.
Meat Loaf, whose legal name is Michael Lee Aday, has said he suffers from asthma and from a medical condition that causes an irregular heartbeat
Earlier this week, he cancelled shows in Moose Jaw, Sask., and Calgary after touring eastern and central Canada since the beginning of May.
He is scheduled to perform Saturday in Cold Lake, Alberta, then in Lethbridge, Alberta next Tuesday before continuing his tour in British Columbia.
