Minnesota Officer Shot Near Patrol Car

Minnesota – A Minneapolis police officer sitting in his patrol car was shot Saturday morning.

Minneapolis police were searching for the suspect, who fired a single shot around 5 a.m. at the officer being seated in a squad car with another officer after responding to a burglary call, the reports said.

The officer was reportedly in stable condition after being sent to hospital.

The reports said Police Chief Janee Harteau met with the officer and his family at the hospital, and she released a statement saying “There is little doubt that an officer was the intended target of this shooting.”

Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges described the shooting as “a cowardly act,” vowing to “bring to justice whoever is responsible for it.”
