A mountain lion was caught on tape mounting a San Jose man’s car, which was parked in front of his home.
The incident happened around 3 a.m. Wednesday on Echo Ridge Drive in the Almaden Valley Country Club neighborhood. Tang, who is 5 ½ feet tall, stood next to his Toyota Camry – providing some perspective about the cat’s size.
“I’m pretty stunned by it,” said Shawn and Steve Stuck, Tang’s neighbors. “That’s a big cat.”
Tang’s neighbors believe the cat came out of Quicksilver Park, which has open space and trails nearby.
“I’ve never seen one. Coyotes, turkey, deer, lots of deer. Not mountain lions,” said Tang’s neighbors.
An average adult mountain lion weighs about 160 pounds, but a mountain lion expert said the one in the surveillance video is only about 70- or 80 pounds. It’s probably less than 2 years old and trying to establish its territory.
With no shortage of deer and small game around, neighbors say they’ll likely see it again.
