Three people were killed and a fourth person was wounded in a shooting at an oceanfront motel in Myrtle Beach, one of South Carolina’s most popular tourist destinations.
The shootings took place around 11 p.m. Saturday in front of crowds of tourists at the Bermuda Sands Motel along the beach’s new boardwalk, Myrtle Beach Police Capt. David Knipes said.
South Carolina Law Enforcement Division was investigating at the motel scene as of early Sunday morning, according to WIS, collecting forensic and ballistic evidence.
Jody Barr, a WIS reporter on the scene, said that investigators were focusing on the second floor of the motel and that blood stains were visible.
The violence in South Carolina comes a day after a 22-year-old man stabbed and shot several people in Santa Barbara, CA, killing six before apparently taking his own life.
According to WIS, Saturday marked the second day of the Atlantic Bike Fest – a weekend rally for sports bike enthusiasts held from May 23 to May 26.
