Utah officers say mysterious voice called them to rescue baby trapped inside car.
Four police officers rushing to a car overturned in the Spanish Fork River in Utah said they all heard a voice calling for “help,” from inside the overturned car.
Except that the car’s driver, 25-year-old Lynn Groesbeck was already dead. Her daughter trapped inside, unconscious, barely alive. 18-month-old Lily Groesback was found strapped to her car seat, upside down dangling over 40-degree water that was just below her head, although never reached high enough to touch her.
Investigators believe the wreck occurred around 10:30 pm Friday after hitting a cement barrier on a bridge and crashing into the river below. Police aren’t sure though why the car hit the barrier. A fisherman happened upon the wreck and called emergency dispatch.
What the officers responding to the scene say they do know, they all heard an adult female voice coming from the car. They said they heard “I need help” and “help me.” The rescuers say they even responded to the voice, that they were “trying to get in there.”

A medical expert says the 18-month-old probably survived because although cold, she wasn’t actually in the water. And she still had her baby fat, which may have also contributed to her survival.
Lily’s family says she’s smiling and laughing and improving dramatically.
