Duggar Family Reportedly Under New Investigation By Arkansas Department Of Human Services.
The Duggar family is under investigation again by the Arkansas Department of Human Services, and police were called in to assist when the family refused to cooperate, In Touch magazine reports.
In Touch Weekly — which broke the story on May 19 using a police report obtained through the Freedom of Information Act — says in its new issue that the Washington County Department of Human Services attempted to visit the Duggars’ Springdale home on May 27 but was rebuffed. The magazine posted what it said was audio of a 911 call from DHS to the Springdale Police Department about 11 a.m. requesting help in obtaining access.
In the recording, a caller gives the Duggars’ home address and tells the 911 operator, “Well, we’re [the] Washington County DHS office and we’re out here to, we have an investigation, and I guess they’re not being cooperative, and we have to see the child to make sure the child is all right. So we just need police assistance or escort.”
The operator then transfers the call to Washington County authorities, who pick up. The caller identifies himself and the audio ends.
Because DHS records are not publicly available, the reason for the visit is unknown. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office did not return a Fox News call requesting comment. An Arkansas DHS representative told Fox News, “In Arkansas, all child maltreatment investigations are confidential by law” and neither confirmed nor denied any investigation concerning the Duggars.
Jim Bob, 49, and Michelle Duggar, 48, have 11 minor children, ranging in age from 5 to 17.
On May 21, Josh Duggar, 27, said in a post on Facebook without detailing specifics, “Twelve years ago, as a young teenager, I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret.” The family has since acknowledged the molestation accusations.
DHS investigated the Duggar family after Springdale police closed their case on Josh Duggar in 2006 because the statute of limitations had run out. Josh Duggar sued DHS in 2007, but the contents of that lawsuit have been sealed.
