Get ready to pay more for driver’s licences, licence renewals, replacements and commercial permits as of September 1st.
Validation sticker costs will increase to $108 from $98 and new driver’s licence and licence renewals will rise to $81.50 from $80.
Starting Nov. 1, driver licence replacement will go up to $28 from $25 and vehicle number plate fees will rise to $20 from $15.
This is the last of staged increases that began in 2013 when vehicle licence validation fees were $74. At the time, the Liberal government noted it had been some 15 years since fee increases.
The increases are supposed to help cover the rising costs of maintaining provincial roads, bridges and highways as well as the delivery of driver and vehicle licensing services and support other public services.
A full list of the fee increases can be viewed on the Ministry of Transportation website at www.mto.gov.on.ca.
