Ontario man charged for driving high with baby in car, Report

A 34-year-old Courtice, Ont. man has been charged with impaired driving after police say he was seen driving erratically with a baby in the rear seat of his car.

Reports of a brown Dodge running a red light at Taunton Rd and Trulls Rd, north of Courtice, came into police around 7:30 p.m., Durham Regional Police said in a release.

At one point, police say the driver nearly went into a ditch and was tailgating another car.

Officers caught up with the vehicle as it was parking at a home on Trulls Road.

Investigators say a baby was found securely buckled up in the back seat of the car and the driver was arrested at the scene.

Arrangements were made for someone to look after the child while the man was in custody.

The suspect has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle by a drug.
Police will not be releasing the name of the suspect in order to protect the identity of the child.
