Owner charged after car pulled from Wascana Lake in May : Regina police

The Regina Police have charged one person after a vehicle was found abandoned in Wascana Lake in early May.

Police and fire crews were called to Wascana Marina Road after receiving a report that a car jumped the curb and drove into the lake.

After more than 10 hours of securing the scene and investigating the incident with underwater divers, the vehicle — a red Audi A3 — was towed from the water at 6:20 p.m. Police earlier determined there was no one in the vehicle.

Police announced Tuesday that the registered owner of the vehicle has been charged with disobeying a stop sign, driving at a speed that is more than what is deemed reasonable and safe in the circumstances and failing to report the accident to police. The driver is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 16.
