GameStop’s CEO Paul Raines has said that the company is gearing up to launch Sony’s virtual reality headset PlayStation VR in the autumn.
Fox News had a chance to talk with Paul Raines who is the current CEO of Gamestop. Raines was talking about how VR is going to change the video game business and he gave an indication on when Sony’s device will be out.
He said: “We will launch the Sony product this Fall“. He also mentioned that it’s predicted that the VR business will be worth $80 billion by the year 2025. Everyone expects it to be one of the biggest innovations of the entire industry.
If what Raines said is true, it makes a lot of sense for Sony to release the PlayStation VR in Fall 2016. It will coincide with the company’s biggest exclusives and it also comes out during a time when many people will be buying presents.
The one thing that Sony needs to do is settle on an attractive price for the device. If it becomes too expensive like the Oculus Rift, then VR won’t be as popular as analysts have predicted it to be.
